Rejoice, Amex Platinum cardholders, some awesome new benefits coming your way March 30th:
- $15 a month on Uber credits/$35 in December (expire at the end of the month) when you link your Platinum card to your ber account
- 5x points on hotels when booked through Amex
- The card now comes in a metal form factor, similar to its competitors like the Sapphire Reserve
- Increased fee up to $550, however, this only applies on March 30th or after, which means you can apply now for the $450 fee. If you already own this card, your next billing year’s Annual Fee will be $550 now instead of $450.
I originally advised blog readers here to sign up for the card when it was offering its 100k Memebership Reward Points offer via a leaked link to the public. Many readers signed up via the link and are coming up on their new year’s annual fee billing cycle in 2017. One thing worthy noting here is that Amex is pretty good about retention offers on the Platinum card if you spend enough – for example, I got a $200 statement credit offer when I threatened to cancel this card back in August 2016. With the current perks of the card ($200 annual travel credit, Centurion Lounge Access, Amex Concierge, etc) added to the new benefits bulleted above, you’re breaking way above even before your next billing cycle hits in 2017.
Happy travel hacking!
